VGC Abogados Book Club: a new session that connects us through literature

At VGC Abogados, we believe that professional growth is bound to personal growth. With this conviction, we held another session in our VGC Book Club. This initiative has become an essential part of our team culture, showing our commitment to the overall well-being of everyone at the firm.

This time, the chosen title was “The Virgin Suicides”, the acclaimed debut novel by American writer Jeffrey Eugenides, published in 1993 and adapted into a film by Sofia Coppola in 1999. With prose described as profoundly poetic and innovative, the work immerses us in the story of the five Lisbon sisters and the perspective of those who, from afar, tried to understand a mystery that remained unsolved.

Eugenides—who later won the Pulitzer Prize for his novel “Middlesex”—invites us to reflect on adolescence, freedom, family dynamics, and the impossibility of truly knowing another person. A challenging yet enriching read that sparked a deep and stimulating conversation among the firm’s staff.

Why a book club in a law firm?

The answer is clear: organizations that integrate wellness initiatives into their culture report more committed, productive, and connected teams. Book clubs in the workplace strengthen key skills such as communication, critical thinking, and creativity, while creating safe spaces for conversation where bonds between colleagues deepen beyond the strictly professional. Reading and discussing what we read allows us to see the world from different perspectives, cultivate empathy, and enjoy a moment of shared recreation.

Our commitment

At VGC Abogados, we continue to support initiatives that nurture both professional and personal growth. We are sure that a team that reads together thinks better together. The VGC Abogados Book Club is just one of the ways we build a work environment where talent develops in all its dimensions.

We invite you to follow our Communications to learn more about the activities and projects that define us as a studio.
