Partner Ignacio Mujica Participates in the IBA
Ignacio Mujica Torres, a partner at VGC Abogados, has been invited as a panelist at the IBA (International Bar Association) Annual Conference – Copenhagen 2026. This is the legal profession’s most important global gathering, bringing together over 5,000 lawyers, regulators, corporate counsel, and government representatives from more than 130 jurisdictions.
On Tuesday, October 6, Ignacio Mujica will participate in the panel: “Public and indigenous consultation processes and consent in large infrastructure and critical minerals projects – current trends”
The panel will address key issues at the intersection of environmental law, social governance, and economic development:
– How are governments accelerating environmental approvals for major infrastructure and critical minerals projects—and what does this mean for public consultation processes and community engagement?
– What lessons can be drawn from jurisdictions experienced in consultation processes for mining, nuclear, and similar projects?
– How can we balance the urgency of expediting environmental permits with the need to maintain a social license to operate, good governance, and sustainable development?
These are defining issues of our time—situated at the crossroads of ESG, indigenous rights, the energy transition, and the global race for critical minerals.
